PSYCHOTHERAPIST
Hello!
I’m glad that you’re here. I’m Alex. I am a therapist who specializes in identity and LGBTQIA+ issues, trauma-related disorders, psychedelic integration therapy, substance use disorders, and eating disorders. I hold trauma therapy training through brainspotting and EMDR as well as utilizing relational therapy, schema therapy, somatic practices, mindfulness, parts-based therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I am a body positive therapist as well as a sexual orientation and gender identity affirming therapist.
I received my graduate degree from Auburn University with a master’s in clinical mental health counseling. Previously, I have worked in a substance use facility, specializing in the treatment of all genders in the inpatient and outpatient setting. I have also worked at an eating disorder treatment center in the residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care. I primarily work with adults and adolescents.
As a therapist and human, I strive to create a safe, grounded space that promotes connection and healing. My goal is to empower each of my clients to tell their story and push into deeper, compassionate understanding of themselves. I value the power of relation through vulnerability and take a holistic approach to therapy that encompasses physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of each of my clients. I believe in each of our inner knowledge and wisdom, working to truly understand personal, individualized goals and perspectives of my clients in order to be a source of nonjudgmental support and positive regard.
I hope we have an opportunity to work together as you lean into who you truly are.
